Thursday, June 23 - Presented by Catherine Sickafoose, Artist & Painter of settings at Red Rock Ranch and Farms. Catherine is back the fifth year by popular demand. Catherine's 8 notecard set of four scenes from Red Rock Ranch and Farms are sold during the Festival.

Catherine will demonstrate her watercolor techniques on a new aqua board  - after learning some tricks with this new watercolor surface, you can test it also and help her finish the painting! 

Extra Activity: In addition, this year you can register for a class immediately following the demo. Class size limited to 12, fee $10, 1 hour session includes all supplies and you will take home your own 5x7 watercolor painting on aqua board, ready to frame. 

 

Friday, June 24 - Lavender Ice Cream Demonstration & Sampling

This popular demo shows you how to make lavender ice cream. An easy recipe and so delicious. Best part, when we are done you get to taste it.

 

Saturday, June 25 - David Heininger of Black Mesa Ranch, Arizona’s Premier Goats Milk Cheese Dairy.

Back by popular demand for the fourth year, David will be talking about his dairy and handcrafted cheese operation. He will have samples for you to taste of his award winning artisan goat cheeses. He will also be selling his cheeses after the presentation. He makes one of his cheeses with our Lavender Herbes de Provence. 

 

Sunday, June 26 - Grilling with Lavender Demonstration & Sampling

Join us for this fun demo. We will keep you entertained while grilling on the back patio. You will see how easy it is to grill meat, salmon & veggies using our Lavender Herb Blends. You will sample all the grilled items. Yum!

Friday, July 1 - Lavender Party Foods Demo & Sampling

You don’t want to miss this one. What could be more fun than party dishes using lavender in the recipe. You will be the hit of the party if you serve one or more of these dishes. A sneak preview: we will show you how to make Herbes de Provence Goat Cheese appetizer, a beverage and surprise dishes. You will taste all the dishes at the conclusion of the demo. Cheryl (My Sister Can’t Cook) and Christine will be co-demonstrating.

 

Saturday, July 2 - Albert Salisz, Winemaker and Mike Teeple

The farm planted a vineyard in 2014. Soon we will be bottling Red Rock Vineyard wine. You will learn about the growing Arizona wine industry and the types of vines planted in the vineyard. Albert “Al” Salisz is an apprentice winemaker with 15 harvests brought to bottle under the guidance of Andy Teague (Teague Cellars, Peoria, Arizona). Ten of these years were with grapes from Bob Bennet in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County, California. Several of these vintages have won medals; at the Sonoma County Harvest Festival (Silver medals: 2007 Zinfandel and 2008 Syrah), the Orange County Fair (Silver medal: 2009 Sangiovese, Honorable mention: 2009 Super Tuscan) and the North Central Michigan College SAGGA competition (Bronze: 2009 Sangiovese) held in his hometown of Petoskey, Michigan.

 

Sunday, July 3- Sharing the Passion for Beekeeping and Gardening

Bees love lavender!  Please join us for this fascinating talk by Patrick Pynes, PHD, the Honeybee Teacher. Since 2000, he has been Gardens Manager at La Posada Hotel in Winslow, Arizona, except for two years (2003-2005) spent as Director of Gardens and Horticulture for The Arboretum at Flagstaff. Patrick has been a passionate organic beekeeper and gardener for nearly twenty-five years.

This is a not to miss session for all bee lovers and those wanting to start bee hives. Last year Patrick presented information about bee hive decline and some of the reasons for this problem. It was a captivating and an insightful talk as will the topic he has chosen for this year's presentation.
